M: Newww Crushhhhh

I am in love again! Does he love me? Time will tell! Probably not!

But first, I know you all read The Hairpin because ATSL told you to, but let’s say you missed that/those post/s. Read this. Don’t you relate to that? I know I do. Gender differences! LOLforever.

So the new love! You may remember that I am currently employed at a restaurant in the Twin Cities. We recently hired a new server, and he is a Minnesota Hotdish, i.e. a dish. A hottie. A hotdish. Sidenote: When I was in college, my friends and I made t-shirts that said “Minnesota Hotdish” on them. They were supposed to look like those other state shirts (Gettin’ Lucky in Kentucky, etc.). Unfortunately, they turned out to be ill-fitting and pretty ugly, so we never wore them. I still think they were clever and have mine in the drawer full of t-shirts I don’t wear but can’t throw away.

The new boy shall be known as Mr. Luxe. His parents bought this old restaurant in St. Paul that is sorta famous for being very fancy once upon a time. It has since lost its luster, though my grandma still thinks it is the height of sophistication to eat there on Easter for brunch. The Luxe family is going to update it/return it to its former glory/what have you. To learn the biz, Mr. Luxe has apprenticed himself to the owner of the restaurant I work at. He used to have a well-paying tech job in Chicago, but he burnt out (swoon!) and is doing this now. JUST LIKE ME. I DIE.

And he’s cute. ANDDD he went to my high school’s brother school one year below me. When we get MARRIED, we can lol at the wedding about how we probably went to the same dances, blahblahblah. PERFECTTTTTTTT.

The owner of my restaurant thinks he is just so right for another girl at work, my work bestie Shauna. And of course, Shauna has a massive crush on him, too, and feels like she has first dibs on him, even though that is totally not a thing. But if you are a girl (and maybe boys have a version of this, as well), you know that it kind of is a thing. Anyway, I don’t want to hurt her feelings. It’s all terribly hypothetical on everyone’s side right now. No one is dating anyone. But still.

So my major dilemma is, do I ask Shauna to the wedding?????
